From Bucknell to Richmond
Seasons' greetings from Lewisburg!
This end of the year fundraiser communication is coming much later than anticipated. And I apologize for that.
November was a month full of surprise for our family. Some of you may already know, John will be departing Bucknell at the end of this month. He was named the Vice President/Director of Athletics at the University of Richmond. I will follow soon thereafter.
As you might imagine, our decision to depart Bucknell University represents a bittersweet situation for us. John and I will really miss Bucknell and all of our good friends and colleagues in Central PA; but, at the same time, we are very excited about UR, Richmond, and this opportunity!
Please rest assured that as Bucknell parents (Noah - Class of '11), we will always have Orange & Blue in our family blood! And I will be back each year for the Annual “Forever Young 5K”.
As I shared in my last mass-communication, before Noah’s Birthday, July 28, this year was much more challenging than I thought, as passing years don’t really lessen the pain. I missed Noah terribly but thankfully with the continual support of family and friends I pushed forward and few fundraisers were offered:

Alternatively, you can make a check to the Noah James Hardt Foundation and mail it to the following address:

I am looking forward to helping as many young adults as possible. Leukemia is afflicting so many young individuals and their families each year and, unfortunately, the number is steadily increasing.
Please help these young adults improve their quality of life by making a donation in Noah’s memory and inviting others to do so… Each dollar reaffirms Noah’s belief that "This is all about getting to live again, not the cancer.”

- Noah’s Birthday - This year like the two previous years, I am encouraging donors to elect a dollar amount including the age Noah would have been, 28. Raised close to $2800
- Pampered Chef Fundraiser - Raised enough for a A.L.L. patient grant ($500)
- Stella & Dot – Currently closing this one

FDA Approves First Gene Therapy For Leukemia
"Noah was supposed to be part of Penn's clinical trial. His t-cell were harvested... Such a mixture of emotions as this new treatment for A.L.L. moves forward. Very hard to see and wonder what if, but I am happy about the approval and getting it available to current/future patients.

"Noah was so so loved..."
."I received this message from a friend of Noah who is herself a survivor and now a nurse. I had to share it. First and foremost, because it warmed up my heart but also because everyone who knew and loved Noah will get it. And, hopefully others who did not get to meet him will understand a little better is being and impacts on others..."
Noah's Maman
"Hi Mrs. Hardt! Just got back from another week at oncology summer camp this past Sunday. I happened to be wearing my Noah 5k T-shirt one day and a nurse I volunteered with, Nurse XXXX, recognized Noah's name immediately. She took care of him many nights at CHoP and had incredible things to say about Noah and your family. She remembers you all well and fondly. She couldn't stop talking about how, "Noah was so so loved on our floor" with tears in her eyes. A few of the other nurses from CHoP immediately recalled his story and also had great stories to share..he's left quite an impact on those who were lucky enough to know him."

October 2016
We are sad to share with you that our first awardee, Brooke Wise, who live 10 minutes north of our house and valiantly fought exactly the same cancer than Noah, passed away Thursday, October 13 at 3:13 p.m.
Please keep her family and friends in your prayers and thoughts.
Please keep her family and friends in your prayers and thoughts.
From Brooke Wise's mother, October 13:
For those of you who have been following Brooke's battle, today she was called home to heaven to be with Jesus while her family was by her side. She fought a courageous battle and walked bravely into God's arms. Brooke prayed for an amazing testimony to share with the world and that was made complete today and we can't wait to share the story with you at the celebration of Brooke's life. Please join us. We will keep you posted on the date and time of funeral arrangements.... Brooke left us this afternoon. She is now in a better place with no pain, fight and worries. May the good memories help her family and friends find peace. |

July 28: Noah's 27th Birthday - Call for Donations with '27'
Dear Family and Friends,
It is hard to believe that, three years ago already, on June 23, 2013, our beloved son Noah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) and a year later taken away from us by this terrible disease. Where does the time go?
And today is Noah’s birthday.
He would be 27 years old this year. Last year, Noah's 26th birthday fundraiser was our most successful fundraiser to date. As I reflect on the months that have passed since last year, I have to, first and foremost, thank you! Most of you have been there for our family through Noah's illness, supported our Foundation's fundraising efforts from day 1, and many of you traveled to Lewisburg to participate in our "Forever Young 5k" in April. Thanks to you, our first year has been a success and we have been able to start giving out grants to young adults fighting A.L.L.
…But the need is great and there are very few sources of direct help to young adults.
...So, please this summer, for Noah's birthday consider a donation that includes the number 27. My goal is to double last year's receipt of around $12,000 for our organization.
Unfortunately this year, I have had to witness again other parents loosing their young adult child. I hope for the day when I will no longer see and feel parents’ pain, their disbelief, their shock and their loneliness. I know that many scientists, doctors and researchers are working furiously to find a cure… And, I desperately want to believe a cure is within reach and our organization will be irrelevant soon. Unfortunately, leukemia is afflicting many young adults and the number is still steadily increasing.
I hope that you will be willing to get/stay involved in our mission to provide direct financial assistance to young adults in need. You can make a donation using the link below:

Alternatively, you can make a check to the Noah James Hardt Foundation and mail it to the following address:

PO Box 567

Please, consider sharing our initiative with other members of your family, your friends, co-workers… Thank you for keeping Noah’s generous spirit alive by helping other young adults with A.L.L. As always, your efforts, ideas, input, are always appreciated.
All the best,
Carole, Noah's mother

2016 Forever 5K: Over 100 Participants
First and foremost, I want to apologize for not thanking everyone who ran the 5k and/or attended the brunch of our first “Forever Young 5k,” before today.
Someone today asked me if I was still on my “post event high”… I have to confess that I am still overwhelmed by the outpouring love, kindness and fun I witnessed Saturday. I am also humble by the effort it took for some to attend, all the familiar faces and all the news ones. This support only confirms that we are doing the right thing in continuing Noah’s dream.
Noah was lucky to have all of you in his life and now involved with his foundation.
I look forward to starting a new tradition with the “Forever Young 5K” and hope to see all of you every year, as well as some new faces, ready to celebrate Noah’s life and help others fighting A.L.L. to live their lives to the fullest, with less worries and stress, while battling cancer…
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures above and please share any pictures you may have from the event!
Fondly,
Carole

January 2016In 2015 Over $20,000 Raised
Great news! We did it!!! The Noah James Hardt Foundation fund reached over $20,000.00 for its first year of operation. But we could not have succeeded without all of you… THANK YOU! Last year, our efforts allowed us to help three patients from the Thomas Jefferson Hospital where Noah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.), June 23, 2013. Your generous donations gave young adults like our first awardee, Brooke Wise (left), help so essential. Interestingly, Brooke was diagnosed with exactly the same A.L.L. as Noah at the Wills Eye Center in Philadelphia. Her leukemia started in her eye. Is this serendipity??? We will never know… But I am certain that Noah would have loved to know that his dream to help others is continuing to flourish through his foundation. We are now looking at our 2016 effort and starting to schedule our new upcoming fundraisers. STAY TUNED! Thank you again for your generous and thoughtful support! All the best to you and your loved ones for 2016, Carole Bourgeacq-Hardt & The NJH Foundation Board |
