Meet Noah

Noah James Hardt was born on July 28, 1989, in Merriam, Kan., to John P. Hardt, of Charles City, Iowa, and Carole M. Bourgeacq-Hardt, of Arcachon, France. Noah passed away in the loving company of family and close friends at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on Sept. 16, 2014, at the age of 25.
Noah spent his early childhood growing up in Prairie Village, Kan., Syracuse, New York, and Okemos, Michigan. As a result of these moves, Noah gained an amazing ability to easily make friends and developed a love of exploring new environments. At age 10, Noah’s family moved to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where Noah developed a number of interests. He traveled frequently with his family, which included a number of visits to his mother’s childhood home in France. He participated in lacrosse and soccer, but found his true passion in music. Noah began playing drums with the Lewisburg school band, which led to his joining the marching band and jazz band and forming a garage band with friends. During this time, he dedicated himself to the drum corps. He trained and made the cut for the highly competitive Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, of Wayne, New Jersey. Noah traveled nationally with his drum corps as it won numerous regional and national competitions.

Noah graduated from Lewisburg Area High School in 2007 and began his college career at Bucknell University that fall. During his time at Bucknell, Noah fully developed his witty sense of humor, embraced his love of being social and continued to feed his insatiable curiosity. While gaining a first-rate liberal arts education, in this regard, he chartered a new university club, involved himself in event and concert planning and developed a new passion for the culinary arts. In the fall of 2008, Noah joined the Kappa Sigma fraternity and began lifelong friendships with kindred spirits. While on the academic side, he earned an appointment as a teaching-assistant in the International Relations Department.

Noah graduated from Bucknell University in the spring of 2011 with a double major in economics and philosophy. Later that year, he accepted his first professional position in Philadelphia. The greater Philadelphia area provided Noah with endless opportunities and access. He fully explored his passions for music, food, comedy and all things tech. Noah recently had begun a new position in the area of marketing with Epsilon at Merck when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (A.L.L.).
While being taken from us before his time, Noah’s memory will live on through the multitude of individuals touched by his kindness and thoughtful spirit.

Noah is survived by his parents, John P. Hardt and Carole M. Bourgeacq-Hardt, of Winfield; two sisters, Elodie Hardt-Rhein, of Middleburg, and husband Chris, and Madeleine Hardt, who is attending the University of Richmond in Richmond, Va.; nephews, Jackson and Bentley; niece, Charlotte; grandmothers, Ghislaine M. Bourgeacq, of Denison, Texas, and Betty J. Hardt, of St. Joseph, Mo.; girlfriend, Elizabeth Elmendorf, of Philadelphia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
